Would you like the opportunity to develop your knowledge in public health and prevention at a regional level, improve outcomes for people in the North West, and promote the contribution of AHPs?

We are pleased to announce that the North West AHP Network is currently looking for 3 AHPs to join the programme board for the new self-care and prevention network in the North West. This is a fantastic opportunity for 3 AHPs to join a multi-professional regional working group and develop strategic leadership skills.

The Health Education England (HEE) mandate and business plan 2015/16 outlines its responsibilities in supporting the prevention role of staff and the self-care agenda through education and training. In order to engage the healthcare workforce, Health Education North West (HENW) is planning to establish a multi-professional public health network, adopting a distributed leadership approach to support the prevention role of the healthcare workforce.

The strategic development of this self-care and prevention network will be supported by a programme board. The board’s main objectives will be to:

  • Act as a multi-professional forum for public health news, intelligence, discussion, and sharing good practice, led by Health Education North West, key partners in the region and
  • related national public health workforce development priorities.
  • Innovate and develop new thinking and ideas to support the physical and emotional wellbeing of people and communities in the region.
  • Showcase and share the breadth and diversity of public health activity led and delivered across the region by the multi professional workforce.
  • To support the development of an annual programme of network events (subject to required funding) such as an annual conference and topic / professional specific CPD events.

The board will be accountable to:

  • Health Education North West Senior Management Team.
  • HEE Public Health Action Group.

We are looking for AHPs who are interested in joining the board and who are:

  • Involved or interested in self-care, health improvement and public health.
  • Working at a senior management, service or team lead level within NHS-funded, local authority or third sector services in the North West region.
  • Have experience of being part of local working groups.
  • In a position to influence within their service and organisation.
  • Able to work multi-professionally and strategically.
  • Able to commit to attending bimonthly meetings over the next 9-12 months.
