Supporting multi professional education supervision and assessment - investment
03 September 2019
From: Dr Mike Farrell, Head of Education Transformation - North, Health Education England
As you will know ensuring high quality learning environments for practice learning are essential if the effective preparation of the future healthcare workforce is to be supported. One of the key elements for this is ensuring that there is sufficient educator support capacity (previously known as mentor/learning supervisor). Given the changes in Supervision and Assessment standards for the preparation of those who support nursing students, and with similar flexibilities being supported by the regulator for the healthcare professions, and the potential for implementing new models of supervision there are opportunities for HEE to consider more flexible use in its budget allocations supporting this type of activity. Therefore, given this please find attached some guidance in which we are proposing an allocation of investment for use within STP/ICS footprints for shared activity.
The guidance sets out the key areas being targeted for the use of this investment and is seeking the submission of partnership responses. Preferably, it is anticipated that one proposal setting how the intention and plan for the STP/ICS will be submitted (this can be by an NHS or higher education institution as long as it comes with the agreement of all organisations committing to the delivery of the indicated activity). Responses are required by 5 pm Wednesday 2nd October.
To help with the any clarifications or questions about this investment opportunity HEE will provide some Skype Briefing sessions/ or respond to queries on the following dates
11am 4th September
4pm. 9th September
3pm 12th September
11am. 18th September
